‘Goddesses are the supreme source power –Shakti‘, is the the belief of Hinduism. Hindu people worship number of goddesses in the form of mother – ‘Matrushakti‘.

In ancient era, Hindu families were female dominated -Matrusattak family system. This tradition is still be maintained in some of the Hindu communities.

History of India witnessed many exceptionally brave women especially during struggle of Independence of India. Rani Laxmi of Zhansi, Begum Hazarat Mahal, Madam Bhikaji Kama, Aruna Asaf Ali, Sarojini Naidu, Laxmi Sahagal, Rani Chennamma and many more names are carved by glorious history of India.

Women in Chapekar family had also played a prominent role after Chaphekar brothers’ martyrdom. Widows of Chapekar brothers struggled for the survival after their death. Wife of Damodar Chapekar, Durgabai showed a great courage, lived sixty three years after him, nurtured and educated children very keenly.
Krantiveer Chapekar Smarak Samiti initiated woman section- MATRUSHAKTI, to salute all these women in history.
